Kraken is the most reliable way to buy and sell Monero with a bank account in the US.

Test performed: sending XMR and having it deposited into a bank account. They require about 1 hour worth of confirmations for deposits, 32 confirmations.

They offer various trading options with market buys and an order book with limit orders, also leverage.

They will require full KYC to sign up. This includes handing over your ID (drivers license or passport) and doing a video verification. You will need to link a bank account. Some of their processes may auto detected your bank account based on your phone number. If your goal is having no trace whatsoever, you should not use Kraken. But, if you need to use the fiat system and are fine with the tax implications, this is going to be the way to do it.

Kraken offers both personal and business accounts. The business accounts require very extensive documentation. If you're going to make a real Monero business that proxies buying and selling with Monero, like with gift cards or something similar, you will need to go this route.

Overall, if you are serious about trading or making a legitimate business in the US, this is the only reliable choice.

    Kraken remains to be the only trusted CEX where you can get Monero. Last year there was an issue with the block time confirmations which prevented some withdrawals but this was a precautionary measure when the whole Qubic thing was taking place. They have always been transparent about what they do and are still the most trusted centralized exchange I've used for Monero.
